Berlin based theatre collective Merrigold Productions commissioned a poster for their performance of Skylight at ACUD Theatre, Berlin.
THE ADVENTURES OF SORES AMANOS AND TOM EVANS
Sores Amanos was the the alias of a young British man called Jac Holmes, given to him by the YPG, a Kurdish militia fighting ISIL. Incredibly sadly, Jac was killed in October 2017 whilst clearing the mines in the Syrian city, Raqqa. He was just 24 years old and one of the youngest British volunteer fighters. He was featured in the Channel 4 documentary, 'Frontline Fighting: The Brits Battling ISIS' shortly after arriving in Syria.
One of Jac's best friends was Tom Evans whose girlfriend commissioned this illustration, drawing upon their deep friendship which involved playing the sci-fi game 'EVE Online' and love of comic books.
The giclée print is 16x20inch.
I was asked to design the poster for the short, comedy-horror film, Care Free, by Sleep Well Productions. The poster draws inspiration from the current trend of alternative minimalist film posters , combined with the dark naivety of 50s and 60s horror film posters.
Care Free has gone on to be nominated for Best Comedy at the 2018 Royal Television Society awards and was screened at The Midsummer Scream Halloween Festival in Los Angeles.
